Donna Marie Howe
Donna Marie Howe, CFA recently joined Santander Holdings US as the Chief Risk Officer. She brings experience from both the sell-side and buy-side and offers a particular experience in the integration of credit, market, and operational risks. Among other roles, she was the Chief Investment Risk Officer for a multi-line insurance company; the Chief Risk Officer for an international multi-strategy prime brokerage; the regional Head of Market Risk Management for an international bank; and the Chief Risk Officer for one of the top hedge funds. As well, she started her own firm Windbeam Risk Advisory in the wake of the credit crisis. As CEO she offered outsourced risk management services, risk framework design, and valuation services. An expert on the central clearinghouse initiative, she is interested in the evolving face of risk management in all its forms.
The author of A Guide to Managing Interest Rate Risk (1990), she serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Global Association of Risk Professionals. She has been quoted in the US News & World Report, the Nihon Keizi Shimbun (the Nikkei), and has been a repeat guest on PBS’s Nightly Business Report. Donna holds a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan.
